Rides and Trips
The year of 2014 was a
good one, I was able to make many interesting motorcycle trips and
rides and to get to know some unique spots of Brazil, specially in the
Goiano Outback (Sertão Goiano).
For 2015 I am foreseeing some solo trips in addition to the short rides we normally do in group.
To begin the year accordingly we did the following short ride on Sunday, the 18th of January, 2015:
It was a pleasure to share this ride with friends, all of them keen motorcyclists and real enthusiasts of two-wheel vehicles.

In reality the most important thing is to be with friends, and to be doing what we like most: to ride our motorcycles.
During the 8th
of March, 2015 we did a short ride passing by the following towns:
Guapó, Posselândia, Palmeiras de Goiás,
Nazário and returning to Goiânia - via Trindade. We
totalled 201 km ridden. Our group had five motorcycles: two
Yamaha Lander XTZ 250 X (motard), a
Yamaha Fazer YS 250, a Yamaha XT 250 Z Ténéré and my Sundown STX Motard.

Once more we enjoyed our Sunday having the pleasant company of friends who really like to ride.

Chapada Diamantina 2015
2nd of June, 2015 finally arrived. At 16:00 hs sharply we left
Goiânia-GO heading to Formosa-GO, where we spent our first
night. This was the beginning of our trip / adventure /
photographic safari to Chapada Diamantina - BA.
We rode the 462 km between Formosa-GO and Correntina-BA with ease, but
paying attention to every detail on the road. The transition from the
lands of the Northeast of Goiás to the West of Bahia - with its
big crop farms of cotton, soy beans, corn, sorghum and millet - exerted
a very good impression on me. I went across the environment that
I like most during my trips. It is important to emphasize that I
particularly priviledged the "sertões" on them (when crossing
the many States of the Mid-West, North and Northeastern regions of
Brazil during my motorcycle trips).
When arriving at Correntina-BA I was
surprised by the beauty of the Corrente river: the wonder of 7 Islands
(7 Ilhas), registered on daytime photos, and the intensity of the river
flow at Ranchão, right on the city center - caught on nocturnal
lights when returning to Goiânia-GO. Both attractions very
accessible, and handy.
As the trip progressed I observed how magnificent were the panoramas
ahead, and how many diverse topographic and beautiful natural elements
Brazil has to offer in its hinterland vast lands in each of the
Brazilian States. My surprise rose when arriving in Santa Maria da
Vitória and São Félix do Coribe. The "twin"
cities, are separated by the Corrente river and joined by an old
highway bridge, and since the year of 2010 by an imponent and practical

through the wooden pedestrian walkway at the São Félix do
Coribe margin, this way we had access to the modern pedestrian bridge
to take many photos. Watching the daylight going in a magnificent
sunset and dusk taking place was a must. It is very interesting to see
Brazil growing, principally at the country´s interior towns and
cities, offering good quality of life to their populations, in spite of
the problems, excesses and errors of the Federal Government.
The overnight stay at São Félix do Coribe worked as food
and stamina for the next days, in which we could enjoy beautiful
panoramas and natural attractions along our "hug of Chapada Diamantina"
- when going from Seabra, through Lençóis - Mucugê
and Livramento de N. Senhora.
The highlight of this trip was our stay at Lençóis-BA,
referential city regarding diamond mining during many decades in the
past - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapada_Diamantina_National_Park .
The city made its transition properly and wisely when going from mining
to the tourism. Nowadays the city receives visitors from all over
Brazil, and specially from overseas, keen to enjoy the many natural
attractions the region has to offer.
The road between Lençóis and Mucugê offers a
pleasant drive to motorcyclists. The transition from the
highlands of the Chapada Diamantina and the plains towards
Caetité and Bom Jesus da Lapa makes the trip much more exciting

mount deserves a visit. The bridge over the São Francisco
river is a "twin" bridge of that over the same river at the city of
The last overnight stay of our trip, at Correntina-BA, was good and
once more we could have good and cheap accomodation. Moreover,
decent accomodation - comfortable and at a very good price was one of
the highlights of this wonderful trip / adventure. On Sunday
morning, the 7th of June, 2015 we left Correntina-BA heading back to
Goiânia-GO having ahead of us 730 km to ride.
Definitely I finished this
trip with the clear sensation of "wanting more of it". It's very
good to have opportunities to realize great adventures with my Sundown
STX Motard, and to face challenges and obstacles along the way.
The chinese motorcycle that
knows much and more of Brazil after a basic "bike wash", and a general
lubricanting service done by myself. Seven years of intense
usage, 63.700 km ridden, from wich of those 45.300 km during trips.
Speciality of the "little thing": long distance trips. Just for fun...
Some relevant technical aspects to be considered:
This resulted overall in an excelent fuel consumption mark of approximately 31 km/litre along the 3.100 km ridden.
- for this trip I utilized a brand new spark plug NGK (accordingly with indicated by the factory: SUNDOWN
STX 200 Motard (16,7 cv) Gasoline 2007 to 2008 NGK D8EA 0,7)
- along the way I used aditivated gasoline to refuel my bike
- the engine oil I used was Mobil 15W-50, semi-sinthetic and a brand new oil filter
On the 8th of June,2015,
beside changing the engine oil and oil filter, I installed in my bike a
brand new battery. This time I put again a Heliar battery, in the
specification HTZ7L. It
was necessary to do the rectifier replacement as well, as the second hand Honda CB 400's
rectifier I installed in September, 2011 came to an end. This time I
installed a rectifier from the Suzuki Intruder 250cc.
BRASÍLIA MOTO CAPITAL 2015
On the 25th of July, 2015 we went to the event
Brasília Moto Capital 2015.
Year after year this gathering of bikes and bikers gets better
and bigger. There we can find motorcyclists from all over Brazil, and
from other countries as well.
There is the right place to come face to face with many different and sometimes rare bikes, as this Honda XL 500S
at the below photo, a magnificent totally original and in pristine
condition motorcycle. The most outstanding detail for me was to see its
original specification of a 23 inches front wheel, a not common size
amongst the trail bikes, normally they have a 21 inches front wheel.
Me and Theresa, and my friends along had a very pleasant day.
We left Goiânia - GO by 08:00 AM, we went to the event
at the Granja do Torto, in Sobradinho - D.F. where we stayed until
01:30 PM. After having lunch at Núcleo Bandeirante we
headed back to
Goiânia - GO by the end of the afternoon.
RALLY DOS SERTÕES 2015
On the afternoon of the 31st of July, 2015 I went to the
Goiânia International Autodrome in order to visit the background
of the 23o. Rally dos Sertões and to take some photos.
There was another event happening there, the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.
This time the Rally dos
Sertões itinerary began in Goiânia - GO - going through the States of Mato Grosso do Sul,
and Paraná. Accordingly, the beginning was in Goiânia - GO
and the finish location was set to Foz do Iguaçu - PR.
XXVII Mid-West Meeting for Antique Cars - Brasília - D.F.
On the 29th of
August, I went with Theresa to Brasília - D.F. in order to visit
Encontro do Centro-Oeste de Carros Antigos (XXVII Meeting of the
Mid-West for Antique Cars), this event happened at
the Pontão do Lago
Sul - a very pleasant location of the Federal Capital of Brazil. This
was a huge exhibition of antique cars (Brazilian and imports) some of
them very rare indeed (mainly Brazilian sport cars from the sixties and

Trip to Serra das Galés (Galleys Sierra) - Paraúna - GO - BRAZIL
On the 11th of October, 2015 I went
to the region of Paraúna - GO with my friend Mauro Gomes,
specifically to visit the Serra das Galés (Galleys
- Ancient warships , low edge, moved by rowing, but also equipped with
2 or 3 poles . They were between 15 to 30 meters long and were often
moved by a crew made of convicts or slaves.).
This is a region
with very singular geological characteristics and encompasses many

On the 8th of December, 2015 once more we headed to Olhos D'Água, district of Alexânia - GO, for the 85th.Feira
do Troca. Me and Theresa shared a very pleasant day with our
friends Mauro Gomes and José Clovis.
